Carla Del Ponte, the combative and courageous chief prosecutor of the UN tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and for the genocide in Rwanda, is among the most important women of our time. In four conversations with journalists she tells of her life, how she works, what drives her and how she deals with the horrors that are everyday for her. The American photographer Robert Lyons has portrayed people from Rwanda. Their faces do not reveal which side of the conflict they were on; at most they are marked by the traces of the civil war.
