On the occasion of Willy Brandt’s 100th birthday, this photobook shows one of the most important personalities of German postwar history through the eyes of four photographers. Volker Hinz, Thomas Hoepker, Robert Lebeck and Max Scheler, four heavyweights of German photojournalism, accompanied Brandt’s career with the camera for Stern over many years and were repeatedly given a view behind the scenes of political events. The result are pictures that show, besides the dazzling politician and statesman, also the supposedly private person.
