On the occasion of his 100th birthday, the photographic life’s work of Peter Keetman (1916–2005) can be rediscovered in this comprehensive retrospective. His work holds a central place in the photographic modernism of postwar Germany. As the exhibition title “Gestaltete Welt” (Designed World) expresses, it unites two central currents of those years: on the one hand the modernist will to form, design, experiment and abstraction, on the other a humanist relation to the world and a turn to reconstruction, the city and nature, down to their elementary building blocks.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
