A story of a family conflict that ended in an escape to a place where silence and contemplation prevail. An act of love caused fracture and displacement, as in a glacier, and to this day the fragments of what seemed so solid keep drifting apart. El ojo del glaciar is an invitation to look. Luis David Brito uses photography as a means of building the map of a complex family constellation in which roles have been upset, altering the author's place in the world. The photo, as a metaphor of the visible and of the bonds that unite his family, is deconstructed and reconstructed in the process of the author's transformation. The mountain and the glacier become the space of the narrative of the author's encounter with himself in the landscape. The book is an intervention of life through the intervention of the photograph and of the materials, resulting in an object of extraordinary craft.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
