The North York Moors National Park lies in the north-east of England and stretches about a quarter of the way inland from the coast. Small fishing villages line the sea and hills rise behind them; the land undulates without high mountains, with moorland and pasture and quiet, peaceful villages scattered through it, a thoroughly ordinary English countryside. Yet this 'nothing in particular' is its greatest charm: you walk the footpaths and enjoy the small village greens and the pubs. Habano felt more nostalgia each time he came and kept returning for fifteen years. Sheep roam freely over the grassland, houses jut out over the shoreline, walkers' faces pass by: nostalgic yet fresh landscapes printed in rich monochrome gradations.
