Photobook dummy by Maximilian Neretin (Germany), shortlisted for the Dummy Award 2026. The book zooms out from our small blue marble to depict a western world-influenced life on an earth identical to ours in size, shape and life paradigms, yet existing in an alternate universe. It explores the idea that every possible version of the past exists elsewhere, revealing a distant, strangely familiar, parallel reality of earth. The black cover has a white line drawing of overlapping square planes, the title in small serif type and a mathematical annotation. The Dummy Award, organised by the PhotoBookMuseum in Cologne, shortlisted 48 unpublished dummies from about 325 entries from more than 45 countries; the shortlist travels on a world tour of photography events and venues.
