A journey through Uzbekistan, a little-known country, photographed in 2019 by Hiroko Hirota; the title means a town with a lot of light, bluer than the sky. Once a trading post of the Silk Road, with Islamic architecture in the blue known as Samarkand blue, it drew her after a first trip in 2015 less by its beautiful streets than by the warmth of people who call out with curiosity and smile with open hearts, trusting that after something bad comes something good. As a change of government in 2016 transforms the economy and tourism, she shows layers of town and village, history and present, facing each person met with softness. Among the pictures are a theatre that Japanese internees built after the Second World War and their cemetery.
