KNOWN is a series of publications that celebrates contemporary Indigenous Australian artists and fosters cross-cultural dialogue between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and writers, amplifying First Nations voices and strengthening cultural knowledge, language and artistic engagement. This volume features Tennant Creek Brio, an artist collective working on Warumungu Country whose members come from Northern Central Australia and Naarm/Melbourne and who explore and reimagine cross-cultural identity and the unresolved tensions between Indigenous and settler colonial cultures. Merging Aboriginal cultural heritage, regional and international art influences and the discarded materials of the mining industry, their intensely personal artworks draw on layered intergenerational influences to renew and remake cultural practices and express collaborative resilience. The artists are Fabian Brown Japaljarri, Lindsay Nelson Jakamarra, Rupert Betheras, Joseph Williams Jangarrayi, Jimmy Frank Juppurla, Clifford Thompson Japaljarri, Eleanor Jawurlngali Dixon, Marcus Camphoo Kemarre, Lévi McLean and Arthur Jalyirri Dixon. The cover is a pink and white painted ground with orange footprint-like shapes.
