Family Sleeping is an evolving body of work that gently considers the role photographs play in memory consolidation and in our understanding of family relationships. Using images from her family archive, Hanako Muller merges her own pictures into those moments to explore how individual timelines, experiences and lives can morph and overlap when visual reminders carry a sense of familiarity. Finding echoes in intergenerational imagery, she looks for comfort in photography's ability to disrupt our linear perception of time and to blur the distance between lives. The zine is number nine in CCP.PE.ZINE, the collaboration between the Centre for Contemporary Photography and Perimeter Editions for emerging photographic artists. The cover shows a woman with a braid asleep on a bed in white clothes, with a radio and cassette tapes beside her.
