Ruth van Beek's highly original aesthetic draws on a growing archive of found photographic material, using specialist books, catalogues and magazines from the 1950s, 60s and 70s as her primary source. She finds ways to produce odd and playful collages by carefully selecting, cutting out, pasting or folding images so that they are transformed and create a hidden reality: a world of dreams, weirdness and beautiful coincidences.
