Curiosities is Daniel Efram's first monograph, a self-published collection of captivating black-and-white images taken in and around New York City and elsewhere in the Northern Hemisphere. The limited-edition book accompanied a multimedia exhibit at Howl Happening Gallery in New York. The pictures move between ghostly and candid: a woman in dark glasses raising a hand against her face, men gathered at a lit corner at night, a child peering over a wooden fence and hands among fringed fabric. Laurie Anderson called it exquisite, Larry Fink found it passionate and deeply felt, taking chances and breaking laws, and Shepard Fairey praised its vacillation between ghostly and candid.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
