A visual narrative based on the lives of the photographer's two aunts, Gayatri and Swati Goswami, who have faced an entire life of psychological and social ostracism for being born with albinism in Kolkata, India. The series explores the siblings' long sustained life through their sisterhood and companionship within the melancholic space of the nineteenth-century residence in north Kolkata where they were born, grew up and have lived their entire lives, a home that has in parallel become a witness to their seclusion.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
