After her mother's death in 2010 Celine Marchbank began to clear out her house and to sort through what she had left behind. Among the boxes she found her recipes, beautiful handwritten notes: her mother, Sue Miles, had been a head chef for forty years and was described in her obituary as a leading figure of the British restaurant revolution. The work follows those recipes back into the kitchen and into a daughter's attempt to cook, and to grieve, in a place that was hers.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
