How does one look at photographs while witnessing a genocide? The work is an insight into ongoing conversations around a set of pictures made in Palestine between 1921 and 1923, which their photographer labelled "Des Choses Intéressantes" — interesting things. Salome Erni handles the negatives herself, reciting a voice-over in front of the camera, and lets the question of who looks, and from where, run through the material as it exists today: photographs in exile, close at hand. Shortlisted for the Dummy Award 2026.
