The first volume of an unpublished journey through the earliest pictures of Alberto García-Alix: 2,154 frames made between 1975 and 1981, presented with their contact-sheet captions. They show the life and the circle around the photographer during a decisive moment for Spain — the Transition — spanning the death of Franco and the eruption of the Movida in Madrid, and including the first CNT rally after the civil war and some of the earliest demonstrations for civil rights in the country.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
