Peripheral vision is the ability to see things outside of a direct line of sight. To notice and pay attention to what isn't necessarily most obvious is a gift the practitioners in this book share. They represent different views and approaches to a changing country and show a selection that oscillates between the documentary and the poetic. The volume collects twenty practices, most of which have emerged during the last decade, with the ambition of deepening knowledge and helping it reach a wider audience at home and abroad. Participating artists: Ikram Abdulkadir, Karin Alfredsson, Elin Berge, Maja Daniels, Charlotta Hammar, Erik Holmstedt, Martina Hoogland Ivanow, Cia Kanthi, Heikki Kaski, Klara Kallstrom & Thobias Faldt, Marten Lange, Inka & Niclas Lindergard, Eric Magassa, Martin Magntorn, Chris Maluszynski, Katarina Pirak Sikku, Mia Rogersdotter Gran, Sofia Runarsdotter, Johannes Samuelsson and Marta Thisner.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
