Introduction by Nadine Olonetzky, essay by Elisabeth Bronfen

A long-term artistic series recording performances at night, both in natural and built environments. Holding a torch, the artist walks slowly away from a large-format view camera as a time exposure captures the scene, illuminated by moving light from which he is subsequently erased. By turns strange and yet somehow familiar, the fascinating results show what an eerie place our everyday surroundings can be, depending on the light in which we experience them.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
