Human activity keeps carrying animal and plant species into new habitats, where they can displace native species, upset ecological balances and contribute to the loss of biological diversity. Erik Irmer presents twenty-five of these non-native and invasive species in Europe, staging each with flash and coloured backgrounds; photographically he lifts them out of their "natural" surroundings and puts them at the centre of the picture, so that the encounter with each creature becomes the subject.
