As the curator Giovanna Calvenzi writes: "Starting from the new image the building has offered the city since 2016, we conceived a broad photographic project to bear witness to its unchanged fascination: an invitation to a group of thirty Milanese photographers, or photographers living in Milan, each of whom agreed to take on the story of a 'noble' city building." From Gianni Berengo Gardin to Paolo Ventura, through Marina Ballo Charmet, Ray Banhoff, Giorgio Barrera, Settimio Benedusi and Luca Campigotto, to Davide Monteleone, Efrem Raimondi and Toni Thorimbert, the book offers different views of Ca’ Brütta, as a whole and in its endless details, inside and out, through the eyes of those who live in it and those who only pass by. The Ca’ Brütta project began in December 1919, when the architect Giovanni Muzio joined the studio of the engineer Barelli and the architect Colonnese, working on a large residential block by the old Central Station; Muzio overturned the preliminary design, making the building the culmination of his research. It has become a symbol of Milan.
