Introduction by Roberto Cotroneo
Closing dialogue between the author and Rosa Carnevale
Made with the support of Leica Camera Italia

A book by an author who has been able to give wedding work a cultural and visual path of its own, prising apart every prejudice about the genre. It gathers a selection of his finest images. Unlike other, equally able professionals, being a wedding photographer means for him building a story that is unique and fixed in time, as unique and forever as the couple would want their ceremony to be. But the story he builds is not the one the couple imagined: he does not follow the script, he looks for one of his own, as the writer of the introduction puts it — he is the director of photography of a film that has a telling of its own. What comes out is work able to frame the feelings, the desires and the values with which the people involved invest the so-called finest day of their lives. He lets his images escape the performance of love, the artificial pose and the pretence of happiness, and lets everything run its course.

ABOUT

The project

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.

Images and rights

Covers, interior pages and descriptions are shown to introduce and identify the books, always crediting publisher, author and photographer and linking back to the publisher. We ask publishers for their permission, and we remove anything on request within 7 days. If you are a publisher, an author or a photographer and you want something changed or removed, write to info@spineindex.it.
