Juan José Moreno Cuenca, known as El Vaquilla, became the youngest and most famous criminal in Spain, an anti-hero and a counter-cultural icon of the transition to democracy. He was born with no way out, marked by a violence he was never able to escape. At seventeen, after three and a half years in seven prisons, El Vaquilla gave his first interview to the magazine Interviú, recounting his hard childhood, his beginnings in crime, his time behind bars and the abuse he suffered at the hands of his family, the church and the police. Ojos de Buey brings to light the previously unpublished pictures taken by Paco Elvira in 1979 together with the full text of that interview.
