Book 7 in the series East London Photo Stories

The author has ventured down Hackney's Columbia Road nearly every Sunday for ten years to visit its flower market. Rather than depicting the obvious prettiness of people and their flowers, she turns her attention to the colour and pattern left behind as the market clears out, focusing on strangely beautiful displays in gutters, hazy reflections in windows and the abstract forms created by cigarette butts and polystyrene cups strewn across the road. The volume fuses still life and street work to celebrate the beauty and chaos of one of the area's most famous markets.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
