For Deponie, Kruse went to eastern Germany looking for the remains and the scars of a period that still casts its shadow over the present: the years after reunification. A period full of change, and for many people also of disappointment, anger and bitterness. Thirty years after the fall of the Wall, he covered eight thousand kilometres across Germany, through regions and villages.
