The book covers six decades, from 1952 to 2014, of a selection of Gunnar Smoliansky's work, and was made in close collaboration with the foundation that holds it. A major Swedish maker, born in 1933 on Gotland, he worked almost exclusively in black and white and developed every print himself, turning everyday motifs into finished work in his own darkroom. His pictures are closely tied to the parts of Stockholm he knew best. When he received a national medal in 2011 the citation noted that no one has portrayed the unnoticed as he has, lifting what is overlooked beyond the fleeting moment and into timelessness.
A dialogue between the photographs of Gunnar Smoliansky and the music of Danny Clay, initiated by IIKKI between February 2026 and May 2026.
