Published on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of Edison, this volume was given to the company's managers, employees and friends, and accompanied the exhibitions that opened in Milan in November 2013 and then travelled to different sites.

It retraces the history of the oldest energy company in Europe, from its foundation in 1884 up to today. Following the curatorial idea of the exhibition and enriched by a wider body of pictures, the catalogue presents both material from the archive and a newly produced series of eighteen portraits of employees who represent the company as it is now, alongside an illustrious former worker, the film director Ermanno Olmi. It opens with an introduction by the chief executive and includes contributions by Professor Pietro Redondi and by the critic and curator Francesco Zanot, respectively entitled Industrial Photography and History and The Third Tense of Photography.
