The photographer Dirk Alvermann has always been curious about people and their sometimes strange lives. For decades he observed them up close with his camera, trusting his perception alone. In this completely subjective, but at the same time unbiased way, every place in his photographs became a scene of social interaction on which he simply had to direct his lens. Nothing is staged in his pictures, "the world is like that on its own...".
