Peter Radelfinger obsessively collects texts and images he finds in newspapers, magazines and online: poems, diagrams, mathematical formulas, ads for men's pyjamas, and many shots of chimpanzees and gorillas. In Falsche Fährten (False Trails) the artist sorts and categorizes these found texts and images, creating categories to grant access. He invites us into his universe, made of much that is important and much that is incidental — a monolith, a compendium that explains the world to its recipient: the world as seen by an obsessively collecting artist born in Bern in 1953, who, after nearly thirty years, is ending his teaching at the Zürich University of the Arts. The focus of Radelfinger's work lies in drawings, animations and found images and texts that appear in numerous exhibitions, performative actions and publications.
