Introduction by Patrick Mauriès
The Spanish artist Miquel Barceló has been one of the most interesting personalities of the international art scene for over twenty years. His mostly large-format works testify to a unique handling of light and colour, materials and textures. They are inspired by various cultures and reflect his own heritage, appearing at once archaic and timeless, artificial and organic. The photographer Jean-Marie del Moral accompanied Barceló with his camera for 17 years, photographing the artist and friend at the places of his work: in Mallorca and Barcelona, in the seclusion of the Mali desert, in Palermo and Paris.
