A photobook made from snapshots taken over about five years in New York from 2007, looked at again, rediscovered and edited over a long time. Light and murmurs responding as she moves between room and street, individuals floating free of society, the mixed expressions of gender: these are studies of life and sketches of a life. The book opens on the street, wanders through the eyes of an immigrant, stitches together varied sights and finally reaches a quiet, private encounter. Because snapshots are fragments, many layers of story arise and time and life are woven anew. Colour and monochrome pictures are followed by a long text by the artist, words that drift between fact and fiction.
