All the photographs were posted on Instagram by Miwa Susuda between 12 February 2015 and 27 September 2022 with the caption My Favorite ___ Of The Day, and are presented in reverse chronological order. The pictures show customers and friends of the New York bookshop, many of them holding books or tote bags, in grids of snapshots against the shop's crowded shelves; face masks appear in the pandemic-era pages. In his introduction the editor Nick Sethi writes of having been a customer since 2008 and a collaborator since 2013, but always treated as a friend first, and of being sure that he is not the only one who feels this way.
