The work is based on a trilogy of exhibitions by the artist Ronit Porat shown in different venues between 2016 and 2018. It revisits a murder committed in Berlin in January 1931 that made headlines across the Weimar Republic: Fritz Ulbrich, a local watchmaker, was killed in his shop by a sixteen-year-old named Lieschen Neumann, her boyfriend and another youth. The investigation and the trial revealed that during the preceding decade Ulbrich had turned the back office of his workshop into a pornographic studio where he photographed hundreds of young girls, Neumann among them. Porat builds the work from extensive archival research.
