This survey traces photography's role across an entire career, from early European travel snapshots through the deadpan artist's books of the 1960s and 70s to later large-format work, reproducing the vernacular subjects the camera was pointed at along the way -- storefronts, product still lifes, parking lots, swimming pools -- alongside an extended conversation in which the artist discusses how a supposedly neutral, documentary tool became the engine of a decades-long conceptual practice.
