An immersive book edited from more than 10,300 photographs of original Pre-Spring/Summer 2005 Helmut Lang designs, taken by Joakim Andreasson between 2015 and 2017, together with related documents. The garments were salvaged from the 2010 fire that ripped through the SoHo building housing the designer's archive and were sold off years later. Andreasson's photographs, made as visual support for those sales, form an inimitable survey of Lang's work, with an edit pre-determined by catastrophic circumstances. The design draws on clothing catalogues produced in the post-war period, and the book comes sealed in an archive box of the kind used to house human skulls and other artefacts. It also examines the present-day stature of Lang's designs and their undeniable influence on fashion.
