Known locally as the tomato tower of Isola d'Arbia, the former Idit plant is by any measure a piece of industrial archaeology — but where that definition meets no bureaucratic or aesthetic resistance elsewhere in Italy, for the eyesore of the Val d'Arbia the verdicts are contested.
