Making a work out of a work: such seems to have been Jean-Pierre Porcher's challenge. Iconic buildings, paintings and recognised models — he covered it all, and could have done his scales. Instead he chose symphony: deconstruction, deframing, blur, movement, displayed page after page. He manages in this way to detach himself from the tutelary figure, obvious and too impressive, of Le Corbusier and his achievements.
We wander; the colour stands out from the stained glass of Ronchamp, the shed converses with the sky, the convent of La Tourette retains only its light and the Cité radieuse releases its Modulor. If the approach is resolutely visual, it knows how to preserve all the signs of recognition of the master, as if a new way of considering the documentary were being introduced, in all subjectivity.
