This volume shows Karl Lagerfeld's current photographs of buildings by the architects Zaha Hadid and Tadao Ando. They don't want to document the buildings themselves, but rather deal with surfaces, patterns and rhythms. For Lagerfeld, architecture is also a source of abstract textures. He formulates his own enigmatic, magical image spaces in which the expressive possibilities of photography are combined with the design elements of architecture. "Konkret Abstract Gegehen" forms a new chapter in Lagerfeld's engagement with architecture, which was preceded by books such as "Schloßhotel", "Modern Italian Architecture" and "Villa Jako" (all published by Steidl).

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
