Text by Yan Ciret

For the sixth edition of the Photaumnales, the photographer Tina Merandon was invited to carry out creative work on the city of Beauvais around the theme “Free Quarters”.

As part of this artistic residency, she collaborated with numerous Beauvais associations and built a journey, nourished by meetings and exchanges between models and photographer.

The images born from this complicity never completely reveal the city but sketch the contours of the neighborhoods and question the presence of bodies in urban space.

These bodies, anonymous or identified, amalgamated or suspended, these improbable encounters or these suggested confrontations testify to our place in space and also to our difficulty in understanding forms, when they move away from the field of probability.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
