Since 2000 Patrick Graf has worked daily on his still-unfinished 3,000-page epic recounting the fictional “Ypsilonian Age.” The first three of eight books now appear. With drawings and letter-documents Graf describes an imaginary age unfolding in the present and in a parallel universe of the artist's making. The main protagonists are the robot Smoke and its creator, Dr. Y. On both the narrative and the formal level, a thoroughly delightful and idiosyncratic journey.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
